Castlefinn, or (Castlefin), was a station on the County Donegal system. Originally 5’3” gauge, it was converted to 3’ gauge in 1894, although we model it as it was in the 1950’s; it closed in 1960. It is just across the post 1920 border in the Republic of Ireland.

We model to the common 4mm:1ft scale, so the track gauge is 12mm, enabling us to use wheels etc. produced for 3mm scale modelling. The track is scratchbuilt at the front, Peco Streamline in the fiddle yard. Control is wholly DCC, including all points and signals, operated from Lenz hand-held controllers. Locomotives are and rolling stock are largely kits, albeit that some are highly modified. Stock from the CDR is prominent with its red livery, but many Irish interlopers are seen, particularly from the Tralee & Dingle Railway. Signals and buildings are entirely scratchbuilt.
