Narrow Gauge North

2024

A layout by Roger Epps
Scale On30
Gauge 16.5mm
Size 6’ x 6’6"

The layout started life as a test track intended to showcase a series of On30 conversion kits designed around a number of Bachmann HO locomotives.  It was later suggested that if the layout were to be fully sceniced then the impact would be greater, and that is what you see here today.

The layout is representative of the small sugar plantations in Louisiana and is on the banks of a tributary of the Mississippi River, one side of the layout shows a small part of the sugar refinery, and on the other a small locomotive shed and sidings.  The buildings are a mixture of scratch built and kit, and are all weathered.  Track work is PECO OO, which has been carefully painted and ballasted.  Scenic work is a mixture of Woodland Scenics, Green Scene and Hornby.  The two trees are a first attempt at making my own and I hope that things may improve.

This is a first move into a scale larger than I have modelled before, and plans are already in place for a new empire.
